George Takei and Tia Carrere will appear on the new season of Celebrity Apprentice debuting this weekend on NBC. They join a cast including models Cheryl Tiegs, Dayana Mendoza, and Patricia Valesquez, Arsenio Hall, Clay Aiken, and Lou Ferrigno.
And — news tidbit from my friends at the Japanese American National Museum — Takei will name the museum as the charity he’s competing for.
As we told you recently, JANM is unveiling an online program with a special ceremony including Takei and former Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta. The Remembrance Project pays tribute to those affected by EO 9066 (which paved the way for the internment of Japanese Americans in WWII).
JANM also shared the news that Ancestry.com will make available more than 180,000 records from its extensive Japanese American camp record collections February 16–23. These events are in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the signing of Executive Order 9066 which, as noted, instigated what many see as the unconstitutional and immoral forced removal of thousands of people of Japanese ancestry by the U.S. government.
It appears that all episodes have been shot, but no word from JANM as to whether Takei won the museum the big money.
