With a script by Jaleel White — yes, Urkel from Family Matters — casting is underway for a project called Parking Lot Pimpin’. The lead, according to the casting notice on Actors Access, is played by Ludacris, with a secondary lead character named “Chin”:
An Asian man in his 20s to early 30s, extremely hip (or so he thinks), Chin works with Walt (Ludacris) at the car rental business, and he likes to talk in hip-hop jive. Unaware that his efforts to befriend Walt and Dez make him look like a wannabe and a fool, Chin deliberately tags along with them the hard way — by hiding in the trunk of their car. Determined to spend a long night getting some action along with Dez and Walt, Chin instead winds up sharing their every painfully embarrassing humiliation…LEAD (1) PLEASE SUBMIT EAST INDIAN TALENT AS WELL AS ASIAN PERFORMERS
The two sets of sides I read actually made me laugh. It’s not going to win an Academy Award, and I probably wouldn’t give the movie a thumbs-up, but I laughed. The two API characters — with Chinese names but Japanese in ethnicity — one-up the African American leads in the story; they end up looking kind of idiotic.
Coke Daniels is slated to direct the film, which is being cast by Kim Hardin Casting.
Thirty-three roles are posted on the members-only Actors Access site, with sides available on subscription-based Showfax.
