Gearing up for Long Beach Comic Con, a relatively new but ever-expanding convention.

My biggest hope when I get there is to find a vendor who was at the Anaheim Convention several years ago….

I bought a stuffed long box of comics for $40 flat, carried it from the convention center to the bus stop at Disneyland, boarded the bus, then subway, back to North Hollywood.  My arms had red impressions and scrapes on them for days.  But it was worth it!  I haven’t seen sellers doing comics for a quarter each recently.  What’s up with that?

The blue line gets pretty close to the convention center, so it’s two subway train rides for me — and I’m looking to buy!

As far as the programming goes, there are some interesting things that stick out.  I want to try to make the epic Mickey panel on Saturday with Marv Wolfman as well as the Writing Animation panel.  While it’s three hours, an intensive workshop on writing for comics sounds intriguing — it’s $100 extra and limited to 30 people.  The night brings a Cosplay drawing event with music and snacks.

Sunday offers up a writer’s panel with my pal Brandon Easton (a Wide Lantern WonderCon panelist) along with Geoffrey Thorne and Jonathan Callan.  Crispin Freeman — yes, brother of Cassidy Freeman of Smallville and every other fanboy/fangirl TV show, including Vampire Diaires — will be leading an Anime Voice Acting Workshop.
