Elena of Avalor Head Writer Silvia Cardenas Olivas was named one of Variety’s Top 10 TV Writers to Watch. P.S. Variety, spell her name right!!

And check out that stunning photo of Olivas on the Disney ABC Press Site.

Wow. Believe me, this woman is as beautiful inside as she is on the outside.

And yes, she’s amazingly beautiful in person too.

Here’s the bio that the Disney ABC press site has:

Humanitas Award nominated writer and alumna of the Disney-ABC Writers Program, the Warner Brothers Writers’ Workshop and the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Television Writers Program, Silvia Cardenas Olivas is story editor of Disney’s Elena of Avalor which follows Princess Elena, Disney’s first princess inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore.

Olivas began her career in television as a stage manager on “El Show de Paul Rodriguez.” She served as a writer-producer on the hit series “Moesha,” and wrote and co-executive-produced “The Brothers Garcia,” for which she was nominated for a Humanitas Award. Her additional live-action writing credits include Disney Channel’s “Jessie,” “Raising Dad,” “Just Jordan” and most recently the Emmy nominated “East Los High,” the first English-language TV series with an all Latino cast.

Wanting to try her hand in the world of television animation, Olivas wrote her first animation script for Disney Channel’s “The Proud Family.” Her additional animated television credits include Disney Junior’s “Special Agent Oso,” “The Misadventures of Maya and Miguel,” “Martha Speaks,” “Fatherhood,” “Pound Puppies” and “Olivia.”

A Los Angeles native, Olivas is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University. She resides in South Pasadena with her husband and eight-year-old son.

Elena of Avalor has a debut date now which will be July 22, right smack dab during San Diego Comic-Con. Hopefully Disney will bring Elena and the crew to SDCC.
