In celebration of HBO’s documentary premiere of The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma & the Silk Road Ensemble, New Yorkers can attend a two-day interactive experience. Attendees can have their compositions performed by a virtual symphony, interact with instrument displays, and enjoy special performance by the Silk Road Ensemble as well as Silk Road Connect at JHS 185 in Queens. The Silk Road Ensemble is a global artist collective formed by Yo-Yo Ma.
The Interactive Experience will installed at Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal. Exhibition hours are 8M-8PM on February 28-March 1.
The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble premieres on HBO March 6 at 8 PM.
The acclaimed documentary follows Ensemble mainstays from across the globe as they explore the ways art can both preserve traditions and shape cultural evolution. The film was nominated for a 2017 Grammy Award in the category of Best Music Film; the film’s companion album, “Sing Me Home,” received the Grammy for Best World Music Album.
